Frida Kahlo is a huge inspiration for women artists.
I created this painting in commemoration of her birthday, which is July 6th. I had no idea that I would finish it in time, but I did. I used acrylic on fresco panel for this painting. This painting has a byzantine icon feel to it. Fresco panel is a challenge since it soaks up the paint right away. This artwork has minimal shading due the difficulty of paint manipulation for this kind of work. I wanted to put more detail into it but came to a conclusion that this particular painting was finished. I hope to do more portraits of famous women down the road. Commissions available.
